Impact of Solar Cell Cracks Caused During Potential-Induced Degradation (PID) Tests

Potential-induced degradation (PID) of photovoltaic (PV) modules is one the most severe types in modern modules, where power losses depend on strength electric field, temperature and relative humidity, PV module materials. Understanding how defects impact PID key to reducing issue. This work investigates cracks fractural solar cells their PID. We have tested using electroluminescence (EL) imaging with varying levels cracks/defects our results indicate that such a sizeable influence also confirmed strong relationship between size initial defect/crack presence hotspots. As crack (dark) area increased, there was further increase cell’s under standard test conditions (STCs). In this work, it observed minor no considerable effect for providing some reassurance quality control can reduce pathway.
